'Everyone' Celebrates Xmas Now?

I noticed in Friendster, people were wishing people who weren't Christians 'Merry Christmas'. Actually, they were wishing one another. Christmas has become something like Happy New Year, where it's not limited to a particular race or religion.

It's funny really. Christmas has become so commercialized. It's not a sacred celebration among the Christians anymore. The reason for celebrating Christmas has changed. It's no longer to commemorate the birth of Jesus, it's become something else, I don't know what.

Now, everyone celebrates everything. Suddenly, everyone is celebrating Hari Raya, Deepavali, Chinese New year and Christmas. They might just not go to work a few days before the celebrations. Their excuse would be, 'Oh, few more days Deepavali already.' And they are not even Hindus! Maybe they want to celebrate together too.

In this rat race world where more and more people are working harder to reach their life goals or whatever, so I guess any celebration would be their excuse to just relax for a while. Maybe. =/

How was the Prosperity Burger?

What to eat for dinner today? I thought earlier. Food is quite a problem for me. Now that I'm not staying at home, I have to worry about where to get my food from. No more mom's home-cooked food. No more not having to worry about where to get my next meal.

There are many food shops near my uni but I have to walk there. Car park's a problem so I can't park anywhere near those shops. If I feel hardworking, then only I'll take the trouble to walk all the way to the chinese restaurant where they sell fried rice, economy rice, normal Chinese food that ain't spicy! I can't stand to eat nasi kandar and roti canai everyday! Only once in while, like once a week.

So, I ate at McDonald's today with my friends. I decided to order something which is not my usual McChicken meal with fries and Coke. Today, I ordered the Beef Prosperity Burger meal. The set includes the burger, twister fries or fries twisters, and green tea. The cashier asked me in an overly-concerned, slow kind of way, 'Do you want green tea?' It's as if she didn't like the green tea herself! Anyway, I was in the mood for orange juice so I changed my drink.

Wow, the burger was SPICY with all its black pepper sauce! I've always liked black pepper as in black pepper chicken but this black pepper sauce was utterly...spicy. =) After a few bites, I quickly got hold of my orange juice and drank to cool my mouth down.

All in all, the burger was quite nice. I remember eating it many years ago and liked it, that's why I decided to eat it again. It only comes once a year, before Chinese New Year. Unfortunately, not everyone likes it. Haha! Read this post by Shannelicious.

2nd floor = Excellent Connection!

Now, I'm at another apartment elsewhere on the second floor and the connection is really fast! This is what I'm talking about. This is the promised 3.6Mbps. I guess this area is heavily covered with the 3G thing.

Huh...don't tell me that I cannot use this modem thingy on the 5th floor! Sigh....

Never mind. Let me enjoy the extra excellent connection now. =)

Stupid Maxis Broadband

Okay, I'm getting really pissed off with Maxis' broadband connection. Almost regretting my purchase. Had too many high expectations which could not be met.

I'm at the 5th floor of an apartment now in Penang and it takes such a freaking long time for me to sign in MSN Messenger. I can't open any webpage either. Then, I had to resort to stealing someone else's WiFi so that I can blog this post.

Oh my goodness...RM138 a month for the next 18 months of miserable Internet connections. What to do...what to do... I'm horrified with their connection. Or maybe I'm using it at the wrong places where the 3G thing is not so widespread yet. I don't know. All I know is that going online with Maxis USB Modem is so NOT fun!

It looks sleek and nice and easy to carry around but what's the use? What's the point of paying them RM138 a month if I can't enjoy even a decent 20 minutes of Internet surfing. And I don't play online games either. All I do is blog and download songs. That's all! Is that too much to ask? Ah....I hate Maxis Broadband and it's only Day 3 of me using it.

I was so eager to try it out and it was a risk I took. An expensive risk. And now I have to find RM138 a month to pay off the bills. Silly me. I wonder how it's going with other Maxis USB modem users. Are they fuming and tearing their hair out? Or are they still patiently going online with it and hoping that one day it will miraculously be fast for once.

I bought it because I travel around and I don't have a fixed line. Yes, there's a fixed line at home but I don't go home often now and no one will be using if I applied for Streamyx there. My only option would be this stupid USB modem. And what a nightmare. I hate it so much.

The Maxis USB Modem Broadband

Yesterday, I decided to get myself the Maxis USB Modem broadband. High Speed Internet Access.

I’m trying it right now and I’m not completely satisfied with it. At the Maxis centre, the salesgirl explained things and made it seem like I’ll be connected to the Internet without any problems. Even if I were to try to go online on the 20th floor of an apartment, I can still enjoy Internet speeds up to 3.6Mbps.

So I paid RM100 for activation and they gave me a neat box with the USB modem in it. There are a long and short wire or connector and an installation CD for Mac users. She said that I’ll be able to surf the Internet in 6 hours’ time. That time was around 1pm so I figured that I can go online at 7p.m. And I did go online at 7pm.

However, I’m quite upset that web pages opened at a slow rate. I haven’t tried surfing the Net at the apartment yet. Maybe later.

But it’s quite fun going online in my room. I never thought that it’d be possible. Well, the downside is that websites load slowly last night at 8.47 pm. It’s frustrating not being able to open Blogger now. Aiyo….still can’t open!

Anyway, it’s Christmas today! Christmas = presents. Not that I’ll be getting many presents now. =) But I’ll still be getting a few from my sisters! So, it’s not going to be downright miserable.

I’m so happy I can go online anytime, anywhere! I can even send SMSes from my laptop with my new SIM card. Yeah, you have to insert the SIM card into your USB modem. Oh, monthly charges are RM138 a month. They’ll only charge me RM138 next month. And I’m bound to an 18-month contract. It means I can’t ever cancel this USB broadband service for the next 18 months! It means I’ll be paying them around RM2000+++!!! Man, I really hope they improve their service so that the loading will be faster.

Stupid Blogger still not opened yet.

Well, it's opened now. Oh my gosh, don't tell me that I'm going to keep experiencing this slow, slow, slow loading!!!!!!!!!!

Which wireless broadband service to use?

I've been searching the Internet for more information on Maxis wireless broadband. From the Maxis website, everything looks nice and clear and to me, it all seem inviting. Cos I'm desperate to connect to the Internet!

However, at my pal's place, there's no fixed phone and we don't intend to get one. That's why I think I'll resort to using wireless broadband services. So now, Maxis and Celcom are my options.

Then, somebody blogged that Maxis broadband doesn't work really well if you were to live in a condominium or apartment higher than the 4th floor. Does that imply to everybody who happens to stay on the 4th floor or higher?

And I've been reading about some 'hidden' charges by Maxis. I thought I'll go ahead with their Starter plan for only RM68 a month. There's a 30-day trial too. All seem pretty easy right? Unfortunately, many people complained about their wireless service.

What about Celcom broadband? Is it any good? Will there be interruptions if one were to go online in an apartment and staying higher than the 4th floor?

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

How does TMNet Prepaid card work?

Recently I purchased a TMNet Prepaid Start up card online (RM30) and thought that I could go online at my friend's place. No, there's no telephone line so I could not use dial-up or even have Streamyx there. I thought with TMNet prepaid, I could surf the Internet!

But no. I think in order to use the prepaid card, we need a phone or I should go to a TMNet Hotspot area! Argh! I just wanna go online at my friend's place where I'm staying for a while. They did say that we could online anytime and ANYWHERE!!!

And what's the use of this prepaid card if I were to go to some Hotspot area? Like Starbucks for example. I thought that I can buy a cup of coffee and then I'll be able to access the Internet automatically. Is that how it works? I'm not sure cos I haven't tried before.

I was thinking about Maxis broadband but it's RM128 a month! That's so expensive! But, I think that that is really anytime and ANYWHERE!

I gotta find out more about these stuff.

The Best Damn Thing!

I bought the latest Avril Lavigne CD - The Best Damn Thing and.......

I like it! Well, not every song but the more I hear, the more I get used to them and then I'll like them more. It's usually like that with me.

Anyway, my favourite song from her CD would definitely be 'Runaway'. I like the way the drums beat. Makes you feel like dancing! But, check out the lyrics:

'I just wanna scream and lose control
Throw my hands up and let it go
Forget about everything and runaway, yeah
I just want to fall and lose myself
Laughing so hard it hurts like hell
Forget about everything and runaway, yeah'

If you were to run away, you can't really run away forever right? I really wish I could run away from things right now...but it's easier if I just face them and get it over with!

Another song I like from the album is 'Innocence'. The lyrics are...meaningful? Well, if that's the word to describe it. I kind of like 'The Best Damn Thing' too.

Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, ho...! Haha! There are a lot of Hey, heys in this album. This album certainly is different from her previous ones. But my favourite album would always be her first one, 'Let Go'.

And oh, check out what I got for my birthday!

That's one huuuuge.....card and I simply love it! It came with chocolates too. =)

Back again

Hey there, sorry I haven't been updating my blogs. Know what? I'm too busy to take care of 2 blogs. One is already quite a tough job for me let alone two! What was I thinking? Anyways, I had fun 'maintaining' both my blogs. Now, I'll only keep THIS blog. Oh yeah.

Well, university life is starting again for me. My last semester's results are not that good. For me. I should have studied harder but it's a mystery as to what I actually did last semester! Better pull myself together now. I have 7 subjects/courses this semester. Last semester, I took 6. So now it's an extra one subject and I had better STUDY!!!

The sad thing is I still can't bond with my new friends. They speak Mandarin most of the time and I simply hate being left out in their conversations. Then, perhaps out of pity for me, they'll ask me some weird question or something. Sad, sad, sad. At times, I feel like I'm better off being alone.

But, no worries now. I have decided that I'm going to drown myself in my studies. And I want to join some sports too. Maybe squash? Or table tennis. Everything seems to interesting and I just want to join all but do I have the time? What with all my classes and assignments...I must stop dreaming!

Oh, this is still my first year in uni so I'm not allowed to drive in campus still. I'd better be careful and not get another 'saman'. 20 bucks you know??? Terrible! So, should I drive tomorrow or just hop on the bus just like everybody else? Tomorrow is our first day of school, so do ya think there'll be any pegawai keselamatan waiting to catch people like me? I'll see how. My first class tomorrow is at 9 am.

Please, please...I hope this semester won't be as dreadful as my first one! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Stardust: 5 out of 5 Stars!

Last night, I watched Stardust at Gurney Plaza. I expected to be blown away by the film and by right I was! It was a beyond amazing movie. Plus the star-studded cast made it even better. When the DVD is out, I’m so gonna get it and watch again. Oh yeah, I have to read the book by Neil Gaiman too, which is what the movie is based on.

The story begins with Dunstan Thorne who crosses the forbidden wall of Wall in England. The wall is a divider between Wall and Stormhold, which nobody is supposed to go to. In Stormhold, Dunstan meets a captured princess, Una, and I think it’s like love at first sight. He slept with her and returned to Wall.

Nine months later, a baby is delivered to his doorstep, sent by Una. The baby’s name is Tristan. When he was 18 years old, Tristan (Charlie Cox) is a shop boy and he’s in love with Victoria (Sienna Miller) who’s not really interested in him.

At the same time, the dying kind of Stormhold releases a ruby, which he turned into a diamond, and whichever of his remaining sons can capture it and turn it back into a ruby will be king of Stormhold. We then see the diamond/ruby shoot into the sky and suddenly, there’s a falling star. It seems that the ruby/diamond hit a star and both fell to Earth. The star is Yvaine (Claire Danes).

Claire Danes in this movie reminds me a bit of Avril Lavigne!

If I were to tell everything, it would seem too complicated. I was also scratching my head trying to figure out what happened since there were so many incidents happening at the same time. They are all connected to one another anyway and that’s what makes the story captivating.

The no-life ghosts aka dead princes

The cast is just perfect. I like Michelle Pfeiffer’s role the best. She is Lamia, an ugly witch who yearns to be beautiful and powerful, like her two sisters. Besides that, Robert De Niro’s character is plain hilarious! The funniest part in the movie was when he’s dancing in one of his girly outfits in his private chambers while his men were fighting off Prince Septimus and there’s the exciting background music. Oh yeah, the music in this movie is flawless.

I have another favourite part too. It’s where the Yvaine, the star glows when she’s dancing with Tristan. The romantic side of me would say it’s well, romantic. Also, the special effects are terrific! Check it out when Lamia does her magic to build an inn.

Fantasy is really ‘in’ these days. Even famous actors and actresses are acting in them movies. Another example would be The Golden Compass starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Eva Green (Craig and Green from James Bond: Casino Royale!), which will be released later in December. The Golden Compass was written by Philip Pullman, another popular fantasy fiction author.

Anyway, be sure to catch Stardust. It’s bound to make you laugh even if you’re in the mood to bite off somebody else’s head.

So Addicted To eBay

I have a serious problem. A really serious one, I tell you.

I am frightfully addicted to eBay. Oh yeah, that's it. Anyway, I'm guessing that I'm not the only who's like that. I'm pretty sure there are many other people too who are always hanging around the eBay pages. Well, I only hang around the fiction books area spend very little time elsewhere. No, the clothes pages don't attract me now ever since somebody mentioned that the clothes sold there might have once belonged to some dead person! So, it kind of like freaked me out a little.

Another problem I have is I'm addicted to the Internet. Again. Ever since I got my baby laptop, I'm always finding any excuse just to open it and go online! See how weak I am??? And my exams are happening right now! Well, not now but you get what I mean. I'm already done with 2 papers and there are 4 more waiting for me. Arghhhhh! I hate exams now.

Know what I really wish for right now? I want more than 24 hours a day! Haha! Yeah. Call me crazy but that's what I really want now. There's so much you can do and 24 hours is basically so not enough.

Anyway, I've bought so many books!!! I didn't tell my family members how many I've bought. Hah, they'll totally freak out and I'll only get a good scolding. Oh yeah, that's what I usually get when I tell the truth. So, I learnt that it's better to shut my mouth at times.

The thing is, I have no time to read my books. I want to read but I always think that I need to read my course books first. If I start reading story books, I'll never stop. Well, what's the difference now? Even if I'm not reading story books, I'm still not reading my study books. It's just too bad cos I'm frequently online! =)

I know it's a long time since I last updated this blog. Heck, I wonder who's reading it now since those who linked here have linked to another blog of mine. Also, I'm thinking of not continuing my other blog. Not gonna waste too much time maintaining 2 blogs. I'm already happy with this one now.

Okay it's 2.42 am here and I gotta sleep now. And Happy Halloween everybody. Trick or treat???

A Day Walking With Nature

This will be a quick post filled with photos! Yeah, my first photo-post,if that's what you call it. By the way, last week, I forgot which day, probably Thursday if I'm not mistaken, I suggested to my friend, 'Why not visit the Kebun Bunga or the famous Botanical Gardens?'

I was fed up with shopping malls where there are only shops to look at and the prices of the stuff in the shops can give me a heart attack. So, we set off to Kebun Bunga. I didn't even know that the Kebun Bunga is the Botanical Gardens. And I'm a Penang person! Shame on me!

Can you spot the squirrel? It's at the top of the picture.

This tree with all its rings looked pretty interesting, so I simply snapped a pic of it.

There were so many monkeys around. I was terrified of them. I heard that monkeys weren't afraid of female humans.

And here is a monkey eating ice-cream. It came near us when it either saw or smelt our ice-creams.

The monkey waiting for more ice-cream. Sorry, we were too hungry we gobbled up our ice-creams as fast as we could.

I could only take photos of monkeys because there weren't any other kinds of animals around. However, I spotted a disgusting, juicy-looking centipede inside the hole of a tree. Nah, wasn't that interested to take a photo of it! Luckily we weren't required to use any worms in our experiments during my Biology days in school. Oh yeah, we cut up rats only but at least it's not worms!

Buy A Dell Laptop!

I find it absolutely fun to own a laptop! I get to carry it everywhere with me and I can go online whenever and wherever I want! Well, as long as there’s an Internet connection but that’s not a huge problem for me.

As a student, a laptop is certainly useful. That’s why students need to get a good laptop so they can type in their assignments and surf the Internet for information. With a good student laptop, nothing can go wrong.

You’ve most probably heard of Dell computers. You must be living in the moon if you’ve never heard of Dell before. Dell is one of the best computer-selling companies. Dell laptops and computers are affordable and yet the quality is exceptional. What more could you ask for, eh?

You can even get a cool Laptop 17" at a reasonable price. Yeah, students are considered poor nevertheless, that’s why we source around for the best deals! In a nutshell, nothing can go wrong with a good Dell laptop.

Not Another Rock Band

When I first heard the song 'Hanging By A Moment' by Lifehouse, I fell head over heels in love with it. Whenever the radio played that song, I'd go all excited and instantly turned up the volume. That time, I didn't know how hot the singer looked! I only got my first glimpse of the band or Jason Wade in particular on TV. Heck, I fell even more love with the song.

Check out this video clip and tell me if he's not as good-looking as I think he is! I first saw this music clip around 5 years ago, I think.

Then, some time in 2005, the song 'You and Me' was another mega-hit. Plus, in the video, Jason Wade looks so super-dashing! Must have melted many more girls' hearts!

Come on, I'm sure everyone of you has a favourite singer and has probably fallen in love more than 100 times with different singers. Perhaps those guys from rock bands get more female fans. The really good-looking ones, that is. Like Jason Wade, for example!

I know I'm behaving like some teeny-bopper now even though I'm way past that stage. But still, it won't hurt to relive old memories, right? ;)

Choose Your Furniture

When you feel bored at home, you go out. If you don’t go out, you stay at home. Isn’t it obvious? Well, when I’m at home, I’m basically spending time with my furniture, don’t I? I want my furniture to be pretty, too so I don’t get bored of them!

By the way, if you just love decorating and re-decorating your home, why not check out the Furniture From Home website where there are tons of cool furniture to choose from. Maybe you’re just planning to re-design your bedroom, then you definitely ought to browse through the bedroom furniture at the site.

What’s more, if you want to meddle in your kid’s bedroom, then the kid bedroom furniture and child bedroom furniture sections are the ones to go to.

Or perhaps you own a queen-sized bed and are considering getting king beds instead? Whatever your reason, it’s good enough to drop by this furniture website.

Updates on Uni Life and A Fine

I've been in uni for almost ten years now or more. Haha! Well, only about 12 weeks actually, which is more than two months! I have 5 more weeks to exam week and hopefully, holiday begins some time in November.

Like every time before I begin school, usually at the beginning of each year, I have resolutions to study hard and finish all my homework on time. After every test I take, I do the same thing. I make resolutions because I failed to fulfil the previous ones. This has been going on since I was in primary school until now. And I still don't learn!

After completing some test that I didn't really prepare for, I'm like, 'Ah! So difficult. Must study harder later!' Unfortunately, other things take up my time so studies take a back seat.

Today would have been a great day if not for the 'saman' I got from the stupid Pegawai Keselamatan. I've been parking at the same place for more than a month now and before this, other Pegawai Keselamatan said I could park there. First-year students aren't allowed to drive but we can park our cars near the university exits. I've been fined once already, cost me RM20! And today it's another RM20 down the drain.

Arghhhhhh! I was so frustrated just now until I cried. Stupid pegawai keselamatan. So, it's RM40 wasted! You hear me, wasted!!! I hate rushing for the buses because everybody else is rushing, too. We are so uncivilized and we just keep pushing one another until we manage to go up the bus first. Nobody wants to walk. No guy wants to be a gentleman either. Sometimes, it's the guys who push the most!

It sucks not being able to park at my usual spot anymore. It's the best place! Maybe next time, I'll check if there are pegawai keselamatans around. If there are any, I'll certainly 'belah'! I thought after the first fine of 20 bucks I'd try not to get fined again and I followed their Stupid Rules. Some guard said that I could park there!!!!!! Ugh, I'm getting frustrated now all over again. I can't wait to be in my second year where we are allowed to finally drive or ride bikes in campus! Being a first-year sucks!

How Do They Do It???

You know all those bloggers who seem to update their blogs every single day, no matter what? Then, they still have ideas when writing paid posts? I mean, it's like, WOW! I am really amazed with them.

Sometimes, or most of the time, I'm hit with writer's block. That's the worst time of all. When you are free and have absolutely nothing to do, you feel like blogging. But, when you sit in front of your computer, nothing comes out. Only a little rubbish and of course, you feel that it's not good enough for the whole world to see. Then, you delete it of course, unless you want other bloggers telling you how idiotic you are for writing such mindless things.

Hmm...I wonder what it takes to be a good blogger. What gives the blogger the energy, enthusiasm, and most importantly, inspiration?!!

Perhaps after experiencing an interesting event, they blog about it. Yeah, that's one. And then when they feel angry about some current issue. That's two. Though I feel this will be somewhat dangerous. We bloggers have been, like, given a bad name for simply saying things without proof. Something like that. I don't really keep up with current issues. Not that interested in political stuff.

Hey, I just managed to write a post even though I thought I'd have zero stuff to write about. Not bad, huh? =D

A Goth Looking For A Date?

The goth scene is a fascinating one. I am in total awe of them. They dare to be who they are and not care what other people are saying about their dressing and all.

And tonight I got to know about a dating website specially for Gothic singles looking for friends and love. It's a way for like-minded Goths to get together and know one another. It's an interesting goth dating site.

It's really simple to get started. You can sign up for free and then you're on your way to searching for other Gothic singles with interests most likely like yours. On the main page of the website, fresh new profiles are 'promoted'. You can view other members' photos, send them messages and there's also the 'Send Him A Flirt' feature!

Do you like techno, punk rock, and goth music? Want to find a friend with similar interests? Then, visit the goth dating site right away!

Satisfying the movie freak in me

Guess what? Students, even university students and senior citizens only need to pay half-priced movie tickets at GSC cinemas. Isn't that just wonderful? I'm not really sure when they started with this marketing plan but it's simply an attraction. I remember last time I only paid RM4.00 for a ticket at GSC cinema and I was in my school uniform then. It was a Wednesday, too and you know on Wednesdays, tickets are cheaper! I forgot what movie it was, though. I only remembered that my friend and I paid 4 bucks each. We were ecstatic!

Recently, I watched The Simpsons and Rush Hour 3. I wanted to write reviews for both movies but sorry, I wasn't in the mood to write about them. I did write a review for the Simpsons movie but it wasn't that good enough. Probably it was so boring until I couldn't think to write more about it.

Rush Hour 3 was okay. Somehow, I prefer Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2. The jokes are still there and Chris Tucker is well, Chris Tucker. With the really high voice and his self-centredness and all.

I wonder what's the next movie that I should watch?

Mailboxes For You

If you think mailboxes are still boring-looking, squarish boxes, then you thought wrong. Welcome to the modern world where mailboxes look prettier than your car. Or something like that! We need good and long-lasting mailboxes so that Mr. Postman can put our precious letters in them. If we aren't at home, at least we have to make sure that when it rains, water won't be able to enter the mailbox and make our letters wet!

There are residential mailboxes and commercial mailboxes. Take your pick and see which type suits you most. My, if you check out the website, you'll certainly be astounded by the variety of nice-looking mailboxes! There are so many and all look so darn good. You might be at a loss trying to find the perfect one. Prices are simply affordable, too.

Well then, I wouldn't want to keep you any longer. Choose your favourite mailbox now!

What An Amusing Test!

62%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

Mingle2 - Dating Site

Well? How addicted are you?

I Could Stay Online Forever!

How many hours have I been online already? Now that I have my own laptop and unlimited Internet connection, I don't think I can be blamed, can I? Really, I could just stay in front of my laptop for days on end. Or until I get sick of it or until it explodes. Hopefully not!

I'm having a ball of a time now just surfing the Net, visiting other people's blogs, downloading music, listening to my downloaded music, and of course, blogging! My books and assignments have been sadly abandoned since last night. I know! I have to study! Exams coming soon!

When there's music, I go crazy. Especially my favourite songs that I haven't listened in a long time. My Savage Garden tape was destroyed because I played it in a spoilt car radio. And now, I can just download the songs onto my computer! Cool, huh???

I can download my Matchbox 20 songs, Lifehouse, Savage Garden, Howie Day, Avril, Iris by Goo Goo Dolls! The list is endless. I'm really wondering how many songs I can store. The more, the better actually!

Oh, I wanna watch 'The Nanny' now! One of my all-time favourites!

Sweating Everyday!

It sucks being a freshie at university. I keep getting lost and what's worse, I keep sweating cos I kept getting lost! And it rarely rains nowadays. The sun is shining with all its might upon me making me sweat and sweat. Each time, I'll arrive at some event dripping with sweat. That's why I prefer to wear black shirts so it's not that obvious.

I'm also quite embarrassed if people stare at the sweaty-me. But, I learn not to bother with them. Like they don't sweat! I've met wonderful people here in uni but they speak Mandarin most of the time. I think I might be able to pick up Mandarin during the 3 years that I'll be here.

The best thing of all, I get to go out and lepak at night! I can't do that when I'm home with my parents as they don't allow me to do so. Last night, my friends and I went out of uni and explored the shops around. Cool! So many shops but can't simply spend. There are even fast food restaurants like Pizza Hut and KFC.

I haven't had my lunch yet. My friends didn't wait for me! I couldn't find the place they were waiting for me. So, I asked another friend to meet me at the library. See? Even I can't be alone to have lunch. I need company for now.

So far, I think uni is quite okay. But, I hate the bathroom. No place to put my stuff like shampoo and all. I might put more hooks on the back of the door. Hope nobody else breaks it!

Not enough sleep and I think I'll be getting the flu later. That's the beginning of uni life. No freshly boiled water. The only water I'm drinking now is from the vending machine where you pay 10 cents for 500ml of water, 30 cents for 1.5 litres and RM1.00 (I think) for a few litres.

My friend is here already. Gotta go and eat now! More updates later!

Dating At A Young Age (Too Young Sometimes!)

Nowadays, younger and younger kids are busy in the world of dating. Crushes, heartbreaks, jealousy, and even infidelity. We thought love problems only occur when we are adults, when we are more mature, etc. That’s why it’s quite preposterous that kids as young as 11 are having boyfriends or girlfriends.

Yes, girls nowadays do mature faster than girls did many years ago. So, that’s probably why they get involved with all this stuff. I don’t know about boys though.

When I was 11, 12, I only listened to my friends talk about boys. Haha! I wasn’t into the latest music too. The only groups I heard of were Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls. When my friend asked me who my favourite member of BSB was and I simply picked a guy in the picture. It happened to be Brian something. Well, most of them liked Nick Carter. He looked the most attractive among all of them but I wanted to be different so I just picked another fella without even knowing his name!

Then, when my batch entered secondary school, there was more talk about boys. Who’s cute and who’s not. Who’s nice and who’s nasty. Who went out with who, who broke up with who, etc.

Some people went for tuition to flirt, ogle at their crushes, etc. And I thought tuition was for studying. To learn more. To finally understand what they could not understand at school.

Anyway, kids in secondary school are quite old enough to know what they want. But, is it advisable for those still in primary school to date? Well, maybe they can still date but under parental supervision! I wonder who wants it.

Look at the Sweet Valley books. Jessica Wakefield is known as the twin who’s crazy for boys. 12 was the age she started dating, I guess. Which guy did she like, I don’t remember. I know that Elizabeth Wakefield was always going steady with Todd something.

In a way, the Sweet Valley books are bad influence. It depends on the reader though.

As for those young kids who are in a hurry to grow up, I hope they enjoy their childhood while there’s still time.

I'm Happy With My Uni Results!

I checked which university I got accepted into and yes!!! I got my first choice! Cool, huh? I'm awfully happy. And no more worrying if I'll ever be offered a place in university or not. All my worries are over! Well, almost over. There's still life in university that I have to think about.

Most of my friends are glad with their offers but unfortunately, there are some who aren't. For example, those who did not get the course they want or their universities are too far away! Well, who asked them to list out the far away universities? I'm not sure if they listed them or not. Maybe they were just offered some course as the course still has not enough students in it. I don't know but they can either appeal or just go on with their given course.

It's absolutely tiring and busy for me nowadays. I have to help take care of my nephew! He's so active and naughty. Oh, he's a little, tiny terror! You wouldn't believe his tricks! Haha! Mischievous little fella!

Okay, it's time to say good night!

University Results Available Next Week!

Sorry! Us post-STPM students have been duped. Yeah, we got the news that the university results would be out yesterday. But, my friend sent an SMS and got no reply. I checked the Ministry of Higher Education website and checked but nothing concerning me. False alarm lah.....

However, it's official that the results will be known by the middle of next week. That's what they said in The Star newspaper. And we have to register at our universities on July 1, 2007. Ah, that's only 2 weeks away! Yes, I'm quite nervous actually. And I don't know which uni I'll get. I'm hoping I'll get somewhere near.

I have fears if I were to get a place. I'll miss my home, my bed, my computer, my bathroom, toilet, TV, mom, dad, family! It's also quite scary to know that I'll be sharing a dorm with a complete stranger! What if it's somebody that I cannot stand? What if she can't stand me? Appeal for another dorm?

But, I'll be happy to get a place, that's all. Gotta pray hard!

Another Canon A460 Has Found An Owner!

Tiring, tiring, tiring but absolutely worth it! I bought this little baby yesterday. The Canon A460. =D

It cost RM499. Quite an okay price. I was torn between this Canon A460 and the Sony DSC-S650 but after asking a lot and looking around, I decided to settle for the Canon one. So far, I’m happy with it and I’m still figuring out its one hundred and one features. Yeah, I’ve to tackle the manual, too.

Well, I asked my friend where she usually buys her cameras and she said that recently she bought hers at Queensbay Mall, either on Ground or 1st floor, she couldn’t remember. What the heck, I walked all the floors searching for good camera shops! Haha! That’s why it was a good workout for me yesterday.

Altogether I went to 4 shops that sold the Canon A460. Here they are:

· The first shop I went to was a Kodak one, which is opposite Popular. The guy was good as he explained and demonstrated the camera’s functions. He will sell the camera for RM499 and the free gifts included were 2 batteries, memory card, and camera case, if I remember correctly.

· The second was a Canon shop at Digital Bay. It was quite quiet around there as there weren’t many customers. Good. More peace and quiet to think and to talk. Anyway, the female sales assistant said the camera cost RM499, too and the free gifts are a mini tripod, a 1GB memory card, and a camera case.

· I still wasn’t satisfied so I searched for the Harvey Norman store. Here, the guy offered the camera at RM499 and the only free gift was a camera case! I crossed Harvey Norman off my list right away. But, the guy was friendly and answered my questions.

· Yesterday I saw an advertisement in the newspaper that SEC (Star Electronic) will have a sale from today until Sunday. Four days only. And they’re offering the camera for RM469 plus free memory card and mini tripod. They also mentioned ‘While stocks last’! And I only found out that the promotion only went on at 4 participating stores. So, the SEC shop near Queensbay Mall that I went to could only offer to sell the camera at RM469 without any free stuff.

The sales guy was good because he said he’ll make some phone calls to ask for more information. Then, he came back to explain it all to me. I was already in a muddle then so I said thanks very much and went back to Queensbay and analyzed all the information I gathered in my mind. Haha! I asked my friends for advice, too.

Finally, I decided to buy from Digital Bay since the girl said I’d get a tripod. A tripod could come in useful some time. Plus, there were 3 colours available and I could choose my silver one. I only realized this morning that the camera case had a very strong smell but it should go off, hopefully. And I realized that there is a small scratch on the display screen! But, never mind. It’s not that noticeable.

I’ve got a lot to learn about my new camera. With any luck, I’ll also learn to use it well.

Sick of Staying Home

It's an emergency! It's a crisis!

I need to go out!

I've been staying home for too long or rather indoors for far too long a time and I'll definitely go mad if I don't get out. Well, it's already a crime in my parents' eyes if I go out every week. It sucks that I have to get my parents' approval each time I want to go out. I know that they want me to be safe and not mixing with the wrong kind of people but hey, I don't take drugs and I am not promiscuous. I'm just bored of staying at home.

Anyway, I might go over to Penang and walk the floors of Queensbay Mall. Yeah, it's the best nearest mall to me now and I'll do anything to get there. My legs need some exercise. I had some exercise yesterday, cycled two rounds around the field in the drizzle.

Hmm, that's another good excuse for going out. Exercise. I really need to get those muscles working. And walking around the mall is one great way to exercise. Cheap, too, unless I buy something expensive. Like a camera, for instance.

Haha! Yeah, yeah, I'm still on the hunt for a good camera. Actually, I'm waiting for my money to be cashed into my account so I can withdraw it and go buy the stupid camera for once and for all! I'm always wishing and wanting this and that but I never get to have what I want. My family usually doesn't approve of my decisions. That is my decisions to purchase anything expensive.

Last time, when I wanted to buy a mobile phone, as usual they protested against the idea. But, it's my own money. I earned it the honest way! As a cashier. =)

Huh! I didn't take notice of what they said and just went out and bought myself a phone. I'm sick of having 'No' for answers. Can I buy a phone? No. Can I buy a camera? No. Can I work? No.

I'm going ballistic here. I love my family but they should stop being so protective of me. I can't wait for the university results to come out!

Looking Into The Night

Everybody has problems trying to see things in the middle of the night. Though some animals can see very well, the owl, for example! Well, they have to search for food so that they can live and reproduce. They’ve been given natural night vision.

For us humans, we resort to technology to help us see in the night so that we don’t keep bumping into things! Anyway, do you happen to work as a security guard? Do you need something to aid your vision if you are on duty at night?

What if you are a nature or science lover? Or you love to go camping and hiking in the dark forests? You’ll probably need to get your night vision equipment from OpticsPlanet. And I was like ‘WOW’ at the number of stuff available there! They have night vision goggles, night vision scopes, night vision riflescopes, flashlights, safety goggles and many, many more! You’ll be at a loss trying to choose the one you want. Really…..

Wait no more, people! Hurry to the site now!

Which Camera Should I Go For?

Oh yeah, I'm still in the midst of finding the perfect digital camera for moi. I'm kind of torn between the Canon A460 and the Kodak C653. However, there are many good reviews for the Canon camera. Affordable and totally worth it.

When I was at Queensbay Mall, there was the Canon booth promoting its cameras. The sales guy even took a photo of me and my cousin to test the camera. Well, the picture was okay but I was still quite broke then and couldn't afford to purchase the camera on the spot. And I'm making sure that I'll finally own a camera in the near future! I'm so sick of being camera-less when I go out. Haha!

By the way, I did a search for the aforementioned cameras and landed on this useful site. Its catchy title would certainly entice you nevertheless. Digital Cameras: The Top 10 Things You Need to Know.

Canon should be a good brand, right? Well, I can't say anything YET.

I'll just continue my research. =)

I Was Away and Now I'm Back!

Oh my! I did not realize that I haven't blogged here for almost a month! Yes, I was busy. In fact, I was away visiting my grandma whom I haven't seen for years and she's unfortunately not quite well now. But, no worries as she's better and resting at home. I just hope that the maid takes good care of her and not spend too much time watching TV! That's what she did almost every night when I was there.

And I'm glad that the Internet connection got better. I haven't touched my computer for almost 16 or 17 days! When I turned it on, there was some weird motor sound coming from the CPU. Oh, I hope it's nothing serious! Haha! I'm so glad to be back. I miss my blogs!

I even bought my favourite Dunkin Donuts. I thought there wasn't a Dunkin Donuts shop in Penang but my uncle said that there was one at Gama??? Really? I'd better check it out one day.

Guess what? There was a freaking worm in my room when I was sweeping the floor. A worm! In my room of all places! Can't it go somewhere else??? Ewwww.....so disgusting. I hate worms and anything slimy. =/

All right. Just thought I'd drop by and write a post. It's like half past twelve now and I'm starting to feel sleepy. Good night!

Movie Review: Murder By Numbers

Although my 8tv last night was blurry and almost unwatchable, well, totally unwatchable, I still tried to understand the movie shown, which was Murder By Numbers starring Sandra Bullock and the hot Ryan Gosling, who acted as Hercules in Young Hercules.

I noticed Sandra Bullock’s always acting as a police or detective. She was a cop in Miss Congeniality and now she’s a crime scene investigator in Murder By Numbers. I don’t even know why the movie has such a title!

Anyway, a crime has been committed. Something has to happen or there wouldn’t be a story, right? And to make the story even more interesting, the murderers are outwitting the cops. Plus the murderers were just two high school kids. That particular part I don’t really get it. Why did those two kids murder a girl?

Richard is the cool, rich, annoying one while his partner-in-crime, Justin is a loner and social outcast. The cops did not suspect that both of them could be associated with each other since they were in different cliques in school. These two boys must have read all about crime scene investigations and learnt up all the procedures that the cops use to find clues, so they avoid making such careless mistakes.

However, one cannot be too careful. In the end, Cassie (Sandra Bullock) began to suspect something amiss and went on investigating the case even though her boss told her to drop it. As usual. The detective has something going on but the boss is always unsupportive. Gosh, how irritating can that be???

By the time the movie was over, I was still in a blur. I was also disgusted with the two boys’ ideas of murdering a girl. When they thought the police were hot on their heels, they plan to commit suicide. However, Richard is too cunning to kill himself and Justin is too smart, so he found out in the end that Richard’s gun was not loaded.

It was a horrible movie. I did not like the two boys and I did not like what they did. I think that perhaps there ARE such cases going on. Ugh, really ghastly. Richard taunted Justin to strangle the girl, saying that Justin talked a lot and never acted out his ideas. Terrible. Awful. I’m never watching this movie again, that’s for sure!

I just checked out Wikipedia and it seems that those two boys wanted to carry out the perfect murder! This movie is also loosely based on the Leopold and Loeb case, Columbine High School shootings and Dartmouth murders. How shocking! They only wanted to feel what it’s like to murder someone.

Told you right? It’s definitely gruesome.

Just saying hi

My poor nephew is not well and he's here for a while. But, not to worry because he's still as naughty and mischievous as before! I love to see him walking and sometimes, running a little, though his little aren't that steady for running yet. Ah, babies are so cute!

Oh yeah, been having some stomach aches too. Ah, I hate having stomach aches! Horrible! Abominable! Simply unacceptable! It's gone anyway. =)

Well, just dropped by to post an entry otherwise you might think this blog is dead or what. And I do hope that I am accepted in USM later. Please, please, please let me go to USM. My guy will be in TAR and I want to be in Penang, too! It wouldn't be fun to be too far from him. I just got to pray and pray very hard.

Studying at USM should be fun, I think. I've been waiting for like, forever, to enter university and since my sis went to USM, I made up my mind to go there too. I just hope that I do get into any university. I'd be really lucky then.

Okay, I better take a nap before the small fella wakes up and bullies me. Bye!

No Money = No Fun

I hate being broke. I hate having being penniless. Hmph!

How does it feel having no money and yet you had so many things to buy? That’s how I felt yesterday. Well, not only yesterday but also many days before yesterday.

There’s this book that I want to buy but like I said, I’m broke! I’m afraid the book will be sold out by the time I got my money. Oh, if only I was the richest person in the whole, wide world, then money would be the last thing to worry about. Yeah, that’s only wishful thinking now for me. I think I’ll only be rich 10 years after I’m dead. How I became rich? No idea.

But, I’m lucky today. My mom gave me some money to spend. Hahahaa! I’m not broke now. I have money. There’s not a thing to worry. I can buy my book now.

Tomorrow, I’ll buy my book. Tomorrow, I’ll finish my money. Yes. Amount of money given to me < price of book. (< is less than)

All in all, I’ll be happy once I got the book. I’ve been eyeing that book for so long! Oh please, please, don’t be sold out!!!

What do I need? What do I need? Orange juice! I’m out of orange juice. =D

To Keep This Blog Or Not To Keep?

Oh dear, I'm in a little dilemma right now. Okay, it's not little, it's more like 'more than little but not a life crisis' kind of dilemma. Still, I'm getting a headache just thinking of it.

The big question is: Should I keep this blog or just delete it? Kamigoroshi advised me to just keep it. For old times' sake, perhaps? If I were to keep this blog and have my new one, it means I have to update BOTH blogs regularly. Oh, how will I find the time?

HOW? HOW? HOW???

Okay. I think I might keep this blog. Hey, maybe I can use this blog for sponsored posts! Then, I'll make sure my new blog will be paid posts-free. Hmm, sounds good so far. =)

Moved to misspositive.net!

Yup. I'm moving my blog to WordPress and I'll be deleting this old blog off mine soon. Just wanted to make a little announcement now. To those kind bloggers who linked up to me, please change the URL to http://www.misspositive.net/

It'll just take a minute, so I won't take up a lot of your time, no worries!

Or if you just want to take a look at the new blog, here it is:

Take care!

13 Things I Really Want To Do In My Life

1. Travel to as many countries as possible! America, England, France, Switzerland, Italy! They are all just waiting for me. How fun it would be walking in London, taking rides in London double-decker buses or strolling in Paris, enjoying myself in the City of Love.

2. Make lots of money. =) I would so love to be a millionaire. Well, even if I don’t get to be one, at least I want enough money to buy lots of nice stuff for myself and for everyone else.

3. Read as many books as possible. Thousands and thousands of books have been published, just waiting for me to borrow or buy to savour them page-by-page.

4. Learn to ride a motorcycle. I know how to drive a car already so it’s time to learn to ride on a bike.

5. Write a novel. Hmm, a novel seems like a tough job as a novel isn’t a short thing. Lots of pages to write. Stories and characters to think of. Well, if others can do it, why can’t I, right? =) I just need enough inspiration, that’s all. And the determination and patience, too!

6. Learn to cook very well. I love food and I love to eat. Wouldn’t it be nice I could whip up some delicious dishes?

7. Meet lots of new and interesting people. Who knows what fascinating stories they would tell?

8. Watch my nieces and nephew grow up to be wonderful people. And spend lots of time with their wonderful aunt! Haha!

9. Have lots of fun and study hard when I get to university (if I ever do get into one).

10. Graduate from university with excellent results. Or highest honours, whatever that is.

11. Learn how to swim. I love the water but I have a little phobia feeling towards it. I have to overcome that water-phobia.

12. Fall madly in love with somebody and to be faithful to him and him me.

13. Be a happy and contented person.

Hairstyles Galore!

I need a new hairstyle. As soon as possible. I can't live with my current one any longer!

Well, you must be thinking I have a hairstyle from hell, right? Hahaha! No no! I'm not that unfortunate. I had my last haircut around last month. When I came out of the salon, it looked presentable, at least. But now, if I don't comb it or put some cream, it'll look really unruly.

I've had lots of bad hair days. It was so easy when I had long hair. All I ever need to make it look tidy was to tie it all up in a ponytail. And it was always in a ponytail. I was too lazy to dream up new hairstyles to create for myself. Or it was more like I had better things to do than obsess over my hair.

Lately, I've decided to keep it short. Hey, short is sexy, you know. Hehe... So ladies with short hair, be proud of it, baby. Okay, ladies with long hair, be proud of yourself too! It all depends what your tastes are. We are all different.

Now, this is a style I would not want. Ever! Even the model looks a bit sad because she had to wear the style for a while.

Oooh, there are so many nice ones out there. But how do I tell the hair-dresser what I want? I think I should just bring along a photo of a hairstyle that I like and then show it to her. Yeah, then I can tell her that I want my hair to be something like that. If you can't make it look exactly like it, then it does not matter. As long as my hair is presentable!

Tips, anyone?

13 Movies I’ll Never Get Bored Of

It's true. I don't think I'll ever get bored of these movies. There are more than 13 actually and I only gave 13 because it's Thursday Thirteen!

1. The Rat Race

This is one of the funniest movies ever made! You will find me laughing non-stop whenever I’m watching this movie. There are many characters in it too and that’s another thing that I like. The characters have their own funny and weird ways, which I find amusing. Really, if you want a good laugh, then this is a must-watch movie!

2. Center Stage

When I watch this movie, I’ll have the sudden inspiration to dance. The dancers are great and talented and well, if only I could dance just like them. But, it would need years of practice and they are dancing ballet! If I’m not wrong, you have to be, like, 5(???) to start on your ballet journey and on your way to be a huge star in ballet. Anyway, I just like dance movies.

3. Home Alone 1

Macaulay Culkin sure is cute when he’s only 6. And a very naughty little boy, too! It is also hard to believe that a 6-year-old could do such meticulous planning to capture the robbers. The robbers are quite stupid too. That’s another reason why the movie is so hilarious.

4. Home Alone 2

Just like in Home Alone 1, Kevin (Culkin) has to outsmart the idiotic but revengeful robbers. This time, he’s in New York City and he’s pretty brave to survive on his own. I hope more 6-year-olds have his guts and determination.

5. Legally Blonde

The first Legally Blonde is much better than its sequel. It’s the bimboness that tickled my funny bone. Elle Woods might seem ridiculous but she’s one cool character. She set out to go to Harvard and she got Harvard. She’s also very friendly to the other students there although all they ever did were give her long and stupefied stares.

6. Shrek

My favourite character would be the donkey with Eddie Murphy as its voice. It’s a truly funny donkey and an endearing one too. What would Shrek be without his donkey?

7. Titanic

Need I explain more? I adore Titanic! I started watching Titanic again last year when I borrowed my sis’ CD and fell head over heels in love with the story. Oh, how sad that Jack had to die at the end. If only he were alive, then he and Rose can be together! Yeah, I’m quite a silly romantic. =)

8. White Chicks

The Wayans brothers are simply hilarious! They were very funny when they pretended to be white, air-headed girls. I like the part when the big-sized coach claimed one of the brothers as his prize at the auction and swept ‘her’ off ‘her’ feet.

9. BeDazzled

Did I list a lot of funny movies here? I’m sure I did. I love funny movies because they make me laugh a lot. Laughter is the best medicine and BeDazzled is one heck of an effective medicine. Brendan Fraser became one of my favourite actors after I watched this movie. Oh, Elizabeth Hurley looks simply gorgeous in it too. I like her British accent, too.

10. Robin Hood – Prince of Thieves

Ah, another romantic movie. I absolutely love the song by Bryan Adams – Everything I Do, I Do It For You. Robin Hood is another fairy tale-like movie but everyone likes a happy ending, right?

11. The Parent Trap

This was when Lindsay Lohan was still a kid and quite innocent. Haha! She’s brilliant in this movie. Well, in this story, she had to act as twins and they meet each other in summer camp. Then, they discover they are actually sisters and not each other’s evil clones. A nice movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

12. The Gods Must Be Crazy

Another funny movie. This is really good movie. Hmm, I haven’t watched it for quite a while and I only have The Gods Must Be Crazy 2. You have to watch it to know how funny it is.

13. Les Miserables

Oh, I have to read this book one day. This movie is beautiful! This is a story of a criminal who turned over a new leaf but a policeman (I think he’s called a policeman) still would not let him go free. You see, this policeman thinks that a criminal would always be a criminal and he considers the man a wolf in sheep’s skin. It’s a very good story set during the French Revolution.

Movie Review: Mr. Bean's Holiday

Mr. Bean, Mr. Bean. Ah, Mr. Bean is back once again with all his clumsiness and selfishness!

I’ve been a fan of Mr. Bean ever since….. I can’t really remember. But, I know that I’ve always enjoyed all his shows and movie. He never fails to make me laugh with his silly antics and also that weird way of walking and running. My little niece is also a big fan of Mr. Bean!

So, what’s he up to this time? Anyway, Mr. Bean’s Holiday will be Rowan Atkinson’s final movie on Mr. Bean. That is sad news since we won’t be seeing anymore new stuff.

Well, Mr. Bean is on holiday, apparently. He won a trip to Cannes (pronounced as ‘kan’), France but got into lots of trouble on the way there. Before boarding his train, he asks a man to take a video of him going into the train. Haha! I certainly would not like to be that man. Mr. Bean had him to take the video over and over again until it is perfect. But, as luck would have it, that man missed the train and it’s all Mr. Bean’s fault. As usual.

What’s worse is that the man’s son was on board the train. When Mr. Bean realized this, he felt terribly bad. You could see it on his face. He went and sat opposite the boy and tried to cheer him up. Oh, Mr. Bean recycles all his jokes in this movie. Maybe this movie is like a summary of all Mr. Bean jokes.

Incidentally, Mr. Bean tried to help the boy find back his father. When Mr. Bean and the boy were at the next train station, the boy’s father passed by in a train that was not going to stop. The boy’s father was holding up a piece of paper with the word ‘Cannes’ on it and his telephone number. Mr. Bean took a photo of the paper but the boy’s father accidentally covered the last two digits of the telephone number. Here, Mr. Bean wrote out all the possible numbers for the last two digits and he and the boy tried to call every number on his list.

Mr. Bean and the boy got separated somehow. Mr. Bean even meets a beautiful young actress who was kind enough to give him a lift to Cannes. She thought he was Russian and he never bothered to tell her he was English. All he ever says is ‘oui, oui’. (oui = French for yes)

And like all Mr. Bean shows, there is a happy ending. The boy finally meets his parents and Mr. Bean finally gets to go to the beach. Ah, I would love to watch this movie all over again!

What would you do if somebody slapped you right across your face in public?

Well, I just asked this question for myself for fun. Not that it had happened to me before. Not that I would want it happening to me! Haha!

Anyway, I’ll suggest 9 ways. Again.

1. Stare stupidly at the person who generously gave you the slap.
2. Slap the person back.
3. Cry. (No way am I going to do that!)
4. Run away and hide.
5. Or stay and fight back.
6. Curse the person silently while giving him/her the evil stare.
7. Complain to somebody else nearest to you.
8. Put your hands on the part of your face where you were slapped and try to look absolutely hurt.
9. Or offer your other cheek.

Pancake House of Horror!

I wanted to write about my pancake-eating experience at the Paddington House of Pancakes in Queensbay Mall yesterday but it slipped my mind somehow. It was a funny and tormented experience and also a totally unforgettable one!

My friend and I had always passed the pancake house each time we were at Queensbay but never ate there. Yesterday, I made up my mind to try how the pancakes were.

So, I ordered pancakes with strawberries, whipped cream, ice cream, almond flakes and chocolate sauce. Maple syrup came with it. For drinks, we both ordered hot chocolate with marshmallows.

The hot chocolate was kind of nice but the marshmallows were tiny! I think I only had around 5 tiny marshmallows in my hot chocolate. And the marshmallows were the best things in our meal.

Back to my pancakes. They looked truly good and delicious and I enjoyed it initially. But after eating halfway, I felt ‘jelak’. Like I couldn’t bear to continue eating. But, with will and determination, I finished it!

My friend ordered a kind of pancake burger. There were fries, a tomato, and some beef wedged between pancakes. Of course there were salad, capsicums, and cheese, too over and under the beef. And don’t expect to find KFC’s or McD’s kind of burger because the beef was not in one piece. It was like fried and tossed around in the kuali.

The verdict: The beef was horrible!

Haha! Or maybe it just didn’t suit our KFC/McD/Pizza Hut taste buds.

I had already finished my pancakes, strawberries, etc but my friend could not bring himself to eat up the beef. So, I helped him. But, we did not manage to wolf down the whole thing. 85% of the total beef served was still there huddled together on the plate.

The total of our ‘meal’ was RM50++. What an expensive experience. Well, now we know where not to eat the next time! I’d also rather have spent the RM50 on normal McD burger and fries plus could have gotten a movie ticket as well.

But, like I said, it was an unforgettable experience.

Movie Review: The Devil Wears Prada

I could not believe my eyes when I spotted a Video CD of The Devil Wears Prada in Borders Bookstore. I’ve been eager to catch this movie when it was being shown in the cinemas but couldn’t because I was busy preparing for my STPM last year.

Why did I buy a Video CD, did you ask? Well, I do have a DVD player and it is so high class that it can only play original DVDs. So, the pirated DVDs can never find a home next to my DVD player, most unfortunately. However, it accepts pirated VCDs though and of course, original VCDs, too. It’s weird.

The movie was clear all the way and that’s the most important thing to consider if you really want to enjoy a movie.

Anyway, it’s about Andrea (Andy) Sachs who wants to get a job as the assistant of Runway magazine’s editor, Miranda Priestly. She was lacking in the fashion department and the people working for Miranda thought she wouldn’t get the much sought-after job.

But, Andy got it! Everyone was quite surprised, naturally and they did not make things comfortable for her, obviously. However, Andy was hardworking, a quick learner, and turned to Nigel’s help to improve her fashion. Nigel is the magazine's art director. Soon after that, Andy started coming to work wearing chic, fashionable clothes and looked totally glamorous in them. Even Miranda, the awfully hard to please editor, approved of her change in clothes.

All the same, Andy got more and more involved with her work and being Miranda’s personal slave, her relationship with her own boyfriend started to deteriorate. They spent less time together and things just began falling apart. Andy really made her job her priority and just let things be. Because she’s so efficient and reliable, Miranda picked her and not her Number 1 assistant, Emily, to follow her to Paris for a fashion show, which Emily was absolutely dying to go to.

It is a really nice movie and the clothes in it are simply fabulous. Wish I can wear them everyday to work or anywhere I want and look purely stylish. Meryl Streep was brilliant as the demanding Miranda Priestly and Anne Hathaway was just like in Princess Diaries. All in all, everyone’s performance in this movie was first class!

myLot is slow! Definitely not a quick way to earn money

I know it's bad to sit in front of the computer for a long time but I can't help it. I'm too busy blogging and surfing other sites. And yeah, the bill's over RM100++. My mom did not say anything though. They won't let me work, so what am I supposed to do?

There's this myLot website where you can post your own comments and thoughts and get paid for it! In a super slow way, though. I made a mistake before and posted only one-liners and short, short sentences. I only made 1 cent that day. Haha! I was so freaking shocked!

I was like, 'WHAT??? No, it can't be. I've posted so many responses! I should have gotten more than the stupid 1 cent.

But later, I found out that I had to post longer and more descriptive responses. Man, I think it's pathetic. I'm just going to post until I get my $10, then I'm so outta there. I'd rather blog here.

If you're too rich and too free, check out myLot. Get yourself lost in there.

What if you and your loved one were separated?

Now that the STPM results are out, I have to think what course I want to study and which university to go to. Well, my dad has made his decision for me. I have to go to USM. It's fine with me anyway.

I know something is going to happen after my results. I know something will happen and it will make me hopelessly sad!

My guy and I might be studying at different places.

Yeah, it's horribly bad news to me. Just now, he told me he might be going to Johor or even Perlis! What places are those??? So damn far away from Penang. But, he has no choice I guess. He said he'll try to find the course he wants in Penang.

I don't know what to do. I don't know what to think. I know I can cry and that's it.

I am not in the mood now.

Life sucks.

Babysitter? Mama?

Why are babysitters such hits nowadays? Why are they taking care of 5 to 6 kids at one time? Are they planning to run a nursery or kindergarten?

It does not make sense at all. One babysitter in charge of 5 kids! That is totally ridiculous. It’s mad to accept more and more kids when one already has to take care of a few others. Why do they do it? Is it because of the money? Or is it because the parents are desperate for a babysitter and she’s, like, the only left?

Then, why do people have kids when all they are going to do is throw them at the babysitter’s? Some even leave their kids at the babysitter’s day and night. There’s a babysitter in my neighbourhood who has looked after a boy for many years. I think she took him in when he was a toddler and now he’s almost a teenager. He even calls her Ma!

People now are so crazy after money and all those materialistic ways of life that they fail to give care and attention to their kids. Instead, they try to shower their kids with plenty of expensive toys and gifts to make up for themselves.

The kids don’t want toys. They don’t want money either. All they want is their parents. They want their parents’ time and attention. They want to have a strong relationship with their parents. Unfortunately, they seem closer to their babysitters.

Some kids are lucky to have good babysitters who treat them well and look after them properly. However, some unlucky ones are stuck with babysitters from hell.

There’s also another babysitter near my house who must be taking care of a few kids and we can hear her screaming at the kids at the top of her lungs frequently. Then, we’ll hear a kid or two crying pitifully. Once, she even threw a small boy out the back door and the poor fella was crying away!

Parents: Don’t be fooled. In front of you, the babysitter might treat your kid like he’s a prince. When you’re not around, you never know how he’s being treated. When you ask them anything, they’ll only tell you the good things. Only the good babysitters will admit their faults.

If you send your kid to the babysitter, why not pay a surprise visit? This way, the babysitter won’t have time to prepare or clean up whatever mess she got herself into.

Don’t be too fussy though. But, don’t be too lenient too.

Personally, I don’t like the idea of babysitters. I would prefer to take care of my own kid, if I had one. This way, I know my kid would be safe and happy. With his family.

Why do I cry when watching Hindi movies?

Why do I always cry when watching Hindi movies? Maybe the story is just touching or maybe it’s the exaggerated background music. Yeah, I think it’s the music. What else can it be then?

My mom likes to watch Hindi or Tamil movies now. She said that they have good stories to tell and good moral values to convey. Well, I think she kind of like Shah Rukh Khan. Haha! Just kidding!

Anyway, there are only 3 days left. In 3 days time, I’ll know my STPM results. Oh, how I dread it and yet I can’t wait for it so that I can get it over and done with.

Which course should I apply for? Which university should I go? Should I try for a scholarship even though I know my results would not be that outstanding? Ah, I don’t know, I don’t know.

I’ve kind of made up my mind to go for Mass Communications. A couple of my friends are doing it now and they said it’s fun. One is in US and one is in Lim Kok Wing. Nah, not going to go to either place. I’m thinking of a public university like UM or USM, which is close to home.

If I go UM, I’ll be far from my family. Then, I can only get to see my nephew and nieces once in a while. I’ll miss my home so much. I’ll miss my parents. Most of all, I’ll miss my bed and bolster. Hmm, what if I brought them along with me? I meant my bed mattress and bolster. Okay, the pillow too.

Well, first things first. First thing to face: my results.

How your blog looks like in different browsers

I was ecstatic when I thought I could blog normally in Mozilla Firefox's browser. Haih....I did not know that when I copied and pasted in Blogger in Firefox, HTML tags will appear when my blog is viewed with Internet Explorer. Luckily, somebody informed me about those weird HTML tags.

I still don't know what's wrong with my stupid Internet Explorer. Maybe there's a virus? But I scanned yesterday already. Guess I have to scan again.

Sometimes, I hate computers so much and yet I can't live without them. For now.

STPM results out next Thursday! Run!!!

The long-awaited STPM results will be out next week on the 15th of March 2007 and it is on a Thursday. Well, who cares what day it will be released? As long it’s released then it’s all right.

A few days ago, my friend had been bugging and asking me when I think the results will be announced. I told him I have no idea but he still asked me to ask my friends. Haha! I guess he must be really, really anxious about his results. Well, I am too! Who wouldn’t be?

I know for one that my Chemistry is a total goner. I’ll be happy if I passed the stupid subject. I mean, I studied Chemistry very hard but it’s a mystery why I can’t answer the questions in my exam. Actually, even my brainy friends had to guess the answers. Was it that tough or what?

I’m also sorry for not updating my blog. I’m sorry for myself too. Just been busy, that’s all. But, I’ll try to update regularly after this.

By the way, the SPM results will be out on Monday the 12th of March and like I mentioned earlier, the STPM results will be out on Thursday, 15th of March. If you want to check your STPM results next Thursday, you can go to the following website after 11am.

http://www.mpm.edu.my/

You can also key in STPM, followed by space and your identity card number and send it to 39003 via SMS.

5 Favourite Malaysian Bloggers

What a huge relief!!! I was not able to blog in Blogger because I think there was some funny problem with my computer. Every time I tried to post something, the post would not appear, only the title. I almost gave up hope on my computer when I was suddenly struck with a brilliant idea.

Why not download another browser?

I was always using Internet Explorer and so far, there weren't any problems. Anyway, I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox browser last night and voila! I can blog again! Yeah!!! Haha!

Okay, here's a tag, which I've been tagged by Princess Shin. I have to list out 5 of my favourite Malaysian bloggers.

  1. 5xMom

5xMom or Lilian Chan. I like to read her blogs because she’s funny and her posts make me laugh at times. She is also very generous with her blogging tips and also tips on making money online, etc. 5xMom is also like a wondermom to me what with blogging frequently and also taking care of her kids.

  1. Pinksterz

Miss Pinksterz in Egypt studying to become a famous doctor one day. I read her blog regularly too because she always comes up with something wacky. Check out her blog if you want a good laugh.

  1. Princess Shin

She’s also another intelligent gal blogger. She writes interesting posts and most of them are the latest news in everything from music, movies, fashion, etc. Well, it seemed like that to me. So, if I want to know what’s happening now in the entertainment scene, I can always check out her blog in case she mentions something that I did not know there.

  1. Xion

Here is a blog where the blogger gives endless tips and websites, which give you the chance to earn some cool dollars. Xion is extremely generous with money-making tips and he’s also very helpful. He’s not stingy with his information and is always ready to help other bloggers.

  1. Me

Enough said. =)

Now, I shall tag Pinksterz to do this tag. I know I’m supposed to tag at least 4 or 5 people but I have no idea who else to pass on the baton. Well, if you are interested, you can do this tag as well. Drop me a comment, though, okay? =D
